The STXBIC is situated on a small site in an urban area of Laredo, TX at the Laredo Sector Headquarters of the US Border Patrol, DHS. Originally programmed to be a linked series of modular buildings, this design provided a quasi-industrial precast concrete, steel frame and metal panel system within available funds and meeting site and schedule constraints - achieving a far superior building in functional performance and life-cycle value. The project was the first of its kind - a comprehensive law enforcement intelligence center to coordinate the efforts of multiple local, state and federal agencies involved in border security.
