DEL MAR GENERAL ACADEMIC AND MUSIC BUILDING PHASE 2

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

Owner: Del Mar College

Providing 130,000 square feet at a budget of $44m, the Del Mar College General Academic and Music Phase II project completes the new facilities for the Music Department begun in Phase I adding three rehearsal rooms, faculty studios, practice rooms, music classrooms, and music support spaces.  It additionally provides academic and administration space for Math, English, Social Sciences, Speech and Philosophy.  Located in the heart of the campus, the design creates functional exterior spaces for student activities and protected passage between buildings, as well as dynamic interior learning environments.  Organized as a cluster of buildings linked on upper floors by glazed bridges, the building creates a compact inner campus with wind and sun protected courtyards, gardens, amphitheaters and loggias that link teaching spaces and faculty offices with daylight and views.  *Design Architect: Richter Architects - Associate Architect: BRW Architects
