DEL MAR COLLEGE GARCIA SCIENCE BUILDING ADDITION AND RENOVATION

An addition to a 1970's vintage community college science building designed in a modern, geometric, if somewhat brutalist composition. Viewed by the client as a bit dated, Richter Architects found it well proportioned and composed, but opaque and not well connected to its immediate context. The design of the new addition was conceived to directly integrate with the original building composition, while clarifying the sense of entry, delineating and energizing public space, and expanding natural light.
